Could conservative firebrand Meghan McCain be exiting The View? You decide. Earlier this week, The Daily Beast reported McCain, daughter of the late Arizona Senator John McCain, may be departing the long-running talk show before season 23 begins. According to the report McCain, who joined the chat fest in 2017, is drained emotionally from the show and is, "feeling like a caged animal."
McCain's tenure has been a bit bumpy with on-camera clashes with panelist and left-leaning co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, along with alleged nasty backstage antics, much of which has been leaked to The Daily Mail.
Just last week, the popular site claimed McCain was reprimanded for cursing out executive producer Brian Teta in front of the studio audience during a commercial break. According to the site, McCain confused Willamette College of Law Professor Warren Binford, a critic of the deplorable immigration detention conditions for migrant children, with Justice Department lawyer Sarah B. Fabian.
The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg clarified the mix up a few segments later, but the site claims McCain lost her cool during a break and said,
This is some bullsh*t! What are you producers good for?
McCain then allegedly turned to Teta and said,
You motherf***er, how could you let this happen to me?
The site claims Teta went to HR about the incident where they scolded her for her behavior. Teta denied and downplayed the encounter. He claims it was playful banter between him and McCain, and HR was never involved, according to The Daily Beast. After the incident took place, Teta claims McCain apologized for her language when he told her she couldn't speak that way in front of the audience.
Will McCain depart? The View has released a statement saying,
The co-hosts and The View have had an incredible season and we expect them all back for an epic year ahead.
