Television veteran Jackée Harry is giving thanks and paying tribute to the late author Toni Morrison. Earlier today, the world learned the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist died at the age 88 from complications of pneumonia. Harry, best known for such television shows as Another World, 227, Sister, Sister, and Tyler Perry's The Paynes, just to name a few, stated on Twitter how much many owe to Morrison, including herself.
It was because of Morrison, who was the first African-American woman to win a Nobel Prize for her play Storyville, she got her first television role on the defunct NBC soap as Lily Mason for three years. Harry tweeted,
