"It's the fall that tops them all!" The Days of Our Lives fall promo has arrived and it promises romance, intrigue, mystery, and a "twist never before seen in daytime drama." Without further ado, let's get into it.
The very first segment lets us in on those who will be reunited with a focus on couples, Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Rose (Melissa Reeves) (goosebumps!), Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker), along with mother and son, Vivian (Robin Strasser) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) - I've been looking forward to La Strasser on my screen for months!
Romance is another clear theme in the promo with a romantic John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), a playful Tony (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna (Leann Hunley), and the brand new pairing of Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) (FINALLY!) All this culminates with the wedding of Eli (Lamon Archey) and Lani (Sal Stowers), as officiated by one cooing, Dr. Marlena Evans Black! However, drama most likely awaits as Marlena utters the foreshadowing brick in the head, "Nothing is going to spoil this day."
Somewhere in the middle of the promo we get a shot of Will (Chandler Massey), Sonny (Freddie Smith), Arianna (Harper and Sydnee Udell) talking to possibly Jordan (Chrishell Hartley) in Rafe's (Galen Gering) kitchen. I'm unclear on who that is or how it fits in to the fun and frivolity of the fall.
We continue our fall preview with "drama" featuring Jennifer Rose in peril (squee!). A cloaked Vivian is holding a gun while being trailed by a gun-toting Lani. The drama intensifies with Victor (John Aniston) using Xander to carry out a hit on Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) - good to see Victor getting back to his murderous roots.
"Family heartbreak" is up next with Julie's (Susan Seaforth Hayes) heart attack, Kate (Lauren Koslow) in the hospital, and lots of dialogue that should prepare viewers for some gut-wrenching devastation for the citizens of Salem. Specifically, we hear Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) saying, "We did everything we could. There is no neurological activity." We then see Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) crying at the hospital and Gabi (Camila Banus) crying in her bedroom. Will it be Kate, Julie, or someone else who is headed to the upper room?
What "surprises" are in store? A little girl enters the room (not Arianna) followed by Xander saying to Sarah, "maybe you're preggers." This line is followed by flashes of Lani, Haley (Thia Megia), Sarah, Gabi and Ciara (Victoria Konefal). What are you up to Uncle Ron?
The remainder of the promo featured a bunch of little clips to enhance the excitement about the happenings this fall, including: Ben with a baby (what?), Jordan and Claire Bear (Olivia Rose Keegan) "causing some mischief" (squee!), Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso)!, Xander in a wig (what?), Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) celebrating something while looking fab in some leather pants, and a menacing hand rising from the ground out of a fresh pile of dirt. Hmmmm . . . I'm guessing that quite a few of these clips came from the Halloween episode that always goes over the top with holiday ghoulishness.
Oh yeah, one more thing, it all leads up "to a twist never before seen in daytime drama!" There has been A LOT of speculation about this twist and the aftermath. The promo didn't reveal any direct clues about "the twist", but I'm intrigued as DAYS hasn't used the "never before in daytime" wording since Marlena was the Salem Serial Killer and it was announced that all her victims WERE. STILL. ALIVE.
We want to know what you think about the "twist" and about all the rest of the rich, tasty, goodness that the DAYS' team put together for our viewing pleasure. What are you looking forward to? What do you think we're in for this fall? Sound off in the comments!
