Peter Bergman keeps it very candid and frank with Alec Baldwin. The Young and the Restless veteran appeared on Baldwin's WNYC podcast Here's The Thing on Monday where he discusses his career in the daytime genre. Bergman talks about his early years of being a high school athlete and getting the acting bug.

Bergman became a household name on All My Children. There he played Dr. Cliff Warner (1979-1989) and starred in the legendary Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup commercial, where he uttered the famous lines,

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV.

Bergman also discusses how he landed the role of cosmetics heir Jack Abbott on Y&R, thanks to co-star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) and her husband, The Bold and the Beautiful's supervision producer and former Y&R executive producer Ed Scott. Bergman reveals the couple were on a flight to Canada and had a few magazines with Bergman on the cover. Bergman stated,

Melody Thomas Scott turns to her husband and says, 'That's Jack.' He says, 'Ok, we'll find out how tall he is first.'

And the rest, as we all know, is history. Bergman also was honest about the hardships of daytime and how he's survived it all. To listen to the full interview, CLICK HERE.
