Freeform seeks to expand on its excellent teen mystery track record with its new pilot, Close Up. Deadline reports that Sean Blakemore (ex-Shawn, General Hospital) has booked a major role in the twisty thriller.
Set in small-town New Jersey, Close Up be executive produced by How to Get Away With Murder's Peter Nowalk and Baywatch and Atypical's Mary Rohlich. Hailing from ABC Signature studios and filming in Vancouver, Close Up tells the story of a group of New Jersey.
Head honchos of the project include executive producer Natalie Chaidez (Queen of the South, Heroes); head writer and former Entertainment Weekly scribe Keith Staskiewicz (Free Delivery); and director Alex Kalymnios (S.W.A.T., The 100).
Fivel Stewart (Atypical) plays ringleader Rachel Guyer, an antiheroine of sorts who is investigating surprises and uncovering the secrets her small town is hiding. Blakemore will play the sheriff who tries to protect the New Jersey town's secrets...and thwart the teen sleuths in the process!
Since departing GH in 2015 (besides his 2016 guest appearance), Blakemore has been booking roles left and right. In 2016, he popped up in four episodes of Devious Maids and booked a regular role on The Quad.
Most recently, Blakemore soared into space in the feature film Ad Astra. The out-of-this-world flick has moviegoers talking Oscar for star Brad Pitt, who, of course, made his 1987 TV debut on Another World.
