Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children) is facing backlash over a remark made on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. On October 23, she told Kimmel how her son, Michael, is attending New York University and paying his own rent.  

She told Kimmel, per CNN:

"He hates paying his own rent, and he's chronically poor. I don't think he ever really experienced extreme poverty like now."

Ripa experienced social media backlash to the remark she made about her son, her eldest of three with husband Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, AMC).

Ripa replied in her Instagram comments:

"Michael goes to college and is a senior and works full time. He is in his first non parent subsidized apt with roommates. I'm used to getting a lot of slack because people love to have fake outrage over something they didn't see[...]We work and we expect our kids to as well,. "And the fact that a pack of fools want to b***h about that, i say let em."
