Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek is sharing his experience with pancreatic cancer so others can learn to spot the signs earlier. Trebek was featured in a PSA for the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition to raise public awareness about the risk factors and symptoms of the disease.
Pancreatic cancer is generally found in later stages and carries a 5-year survival rate in the single digits. Trebek said in the video,
I wish I had known sooner that the persistent stomach pain I experienced before my diagnosis was a symptom of pancreatic cancer. Other common symptoms can include mid back pain, unexplained weight loss, new onset diabetes and the yellowing of the skin or eyes.
