As The World Turns alumnus Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey) has morphed into a movie star in recent years with hits like Game Night and Into the Woods. Deadline reported that HBO Max has snapped him up for its tragicomic adaptation of Alissa Nutting's novel Made for Love.
Made for Love centers on Hazel (How I Met Your Mother's Cristin Milioti), who is desperately fleeing her decade-long marriage to creepy billionaire Byron (Magnussen, originally tapped to be played by Ray Romano). It follows Hazel discovering that Byron is tracking her using a new device, one that she tries to escape.
Also a Tony nominee, Magnussen will pop up in a new Sopranos project and the new James Bond flick. Made for Love's cast also includes Olivier Award-winning actress Noma Dumezweni. The showrunner will be The Leftovers' Patrick Somerville, while Nutting acts as co-creator and exec producer.
S.J. Clarkson, who moved from directing UK soaps like Doctors, Casualty, and EastEnders to helming Jessica Jones stateside, will direct and serve as EP; the show will be produced by Paramount Television. Other executive producers will be Mary Queen of Scots' Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions and author and Nutting's husband, Dean Bakopoulos.
