Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting back in the saddle on television and with Fox. A second project in development will star the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress. Gellar has signed on to the thriller Sometimes I Lie, produced by Ellen DeGeneres.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox gave a script commitment to the show with a penalty. The series is based on ex-BBC journalist Alice Feeney's book of the same name. It centers on Amber Reynolds (Gellar), who winds up in a coma and isn't able to remember how she got there, but is sure it was no accident. While in fear for her life and trapped in her own skin, Amber tries to figure out what transpired in the last week as she deals with a sister hiding a dangerous secret, a husband who no longer loves her, and an ex-boyfriend who refuses to let her go.
Gellar's deal is the second one she's landed at Fox. In August, she was given a script commitment for the dramedy Other People's Houses, based on the Abbi Waxman novel. The series is seen through the lens of social media as characters must deal with the emotional ups and downs of being parents, partners, friends, and neighbors.
