B&B's John McCook: "I'm So Glad We Are Addressing The Topic of Ageism"
John McCook (Eric) is thrilled to be addressing major issues on The Bold and The Beautiful. He spoke about his current storyline on Soap Opera Digest.
McCook won an Emmy a few years ago for his work in Eric's erectile dysfunction storyline. He's also addressing topical matters now, as Eric designs his final collection, saying:
I'm so glad we are addressing the topic of ageism. The ageism thing is real, and it is something I carry with me as an actor.

McCook noted that if you see an actor on screen whom you haven't spotted in decades, you might be surprised at how they've aged. But the advantage of soap operas is that daytime actors are in your living room most weekdays, so the transition is a bit more gradual for viewers.
He added:
This is a great blessing being in a situation where an older actor is important to what we do, because the stories we tell on daytime are generational, and I'm very grateful about that.
