Days of Our Lives Recap: Stefan and Gabi Use Rachel to Blackmail Kristen

On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:
Horton Square: EJ and Kristen are walking after their bonding lunch. He wonders if they can discuss business and Kristen’s happy they’re finally getting down to business. He explains how Gabi and Stefan procured Dimitri’s shares as he lie bleeding after Vivian shot him. Kristen admits she kind of respects their tactics. EJ says the dastardly duo will likely use similar tactics to strong arm her. EJ suggests she transfer her shares to him temporarily, if only for safety. She laughs at his suggestion, but he says Kristen needs to make a choice. She says she’s open to listening to his side of things, but EJ warns her not to take too much time.
DiMera Mansion – Stefan and Gabi’s Living Room: Gabi is having second thoughts about using the video they made to blackmail Kristen. Stefan understands but reminds her the videos will never be seen by anyone else (famous last words) and will only serve to secure their spot at DiMera Enterprises. Gabi finishes doctoring the video and Stefan is certain this plan will work.
Marlena’s Penthouse: Marlena is chatting with John when Brady walks in. She hangs up and says they’re all going to have dinner at grandpa Tim’s new place (I didn’t realize he was still in town). They shift topics and Brady explains how Stefan and Gabi are helping him regain custody of Rachel. Marlena is appalled he is working with them to set Kristen up for child abuse. Brady admits the tactics are underhanded but he doesn’t care. Marlena can’t believe he’s engaging in such unethical behavior (probably not anyone in Salem’s lesson to teach). She tries to get him to see reason as she believes he will lose Rachel for good. Just then, he gets a call from Stefan saying the video is ready and they’ll be right over. Marlena does her best to talk sense into him, but Brady says the ends justify the means.
DiMera Mansion – Living Room: Kristen returns and finds Gabi and Stefan talking about her. With a quickness, Gabi plays the video sending Kristen into hysterics. She says she would never hurt Rachel. Gabi plays more of the video showing Kristen tell Brady she’ll discipline Rachel any way she sees fit. Kristen is beside herself and asks why they are setting her up. Stefan says either she turns over her shares or they give Brady the tape.
Brady Pub: Someone watches from outside as Chad and Stephanie chat inside about marriage. He recounts what Steve said to him about their relationship and she’s embarrassed. He asks if her dad is correct and Stephanie confirms she agrees with him.
Stephanie knows they’re not in the same place and has tried to downplay her feelings. She admits she was disappointed in their difference of opinion. Chad wants her to be more expressive, but she insists she doesn’t want to pressure him. Stephanie admits she’s confused why he invited her to move in if he didn’t see marriage in their future.
The conversation turns to Abigail and how their interaction about the costume made her realize she will never escape her cousin’s shadow. Chad gets a little annoyed but still tries to explain. Stephanie says he hasn’t made it easy on her by pulling away and not including her when it comes to Abigail’s memory. She feels like she doesn’t belong in her own home. Chad says he wants to move forward but needs time. Stephanie wonders if there will ever be enough time. Stephanie refuses to downplay herself in order to be with him. She says she has her own baggage, like her ex-boyfriend in Seattle who disappeared on her just as their relationship was starting to get serious. She has fears of abandonment and is scared this relationship will leave her feeling the same way. Chad says he loves her and Stephanie says, “just not as much as your dead wife.” (Oooooooh!). With that she exits and is still being watched by someone outside.
University Hospital – Kayla’s Office: Steve tells Kayla everything he said to Chad. She thinks he made things worse. Steve tries to return to fix the situation and Kayla tells him to take several seats. Steve doesn’t think Stephanie will easily be able to compete with Abigail’s memory. Kayla agrees recalling how difficult it was for her to move on when she originally thought he was dead.

Flashback: Steve in the hospital with his eye covered in gauze. He thanks Kayla for giving him a wonderful life. She embraces him as he says one last “I love you, sweetness” and slowly slips away (Excellent, unexpected flashback!).
Then, one day, Steve walked back into her life.
Flashaback #2: Kayla is sitting in the park when Steve walks up behind her.
Steve worries Chad and Stephanie will not be as lucky as they were. Kayla thinks they have to sit back and do their best to support their daughter and what’s best for her future.

Endings
EJ enters the living room and Kristen says she signed her shares over to Stefan and Gabi.
Kate returns saying the kids are settled in watching a movie. Chad says Stephanie is gone. He explains they weren’t on the same page about their relationship and ended in a fight. She rightly guesses it’s about Abigail.
Gabi and Stefan arrive at the penthouse and tell Brady the video of Kristen has been deleted. About four years too late, Brady realizes he’s been double crossed and throws them out.
Stephanie returns home as someone approaches her door. She chats with Steve who apologizes for what he said. Just then there’s a knock at the door and they hang up. She answers the door and drops the bowl of candy.
