The Young and the RestlessChelsea Lawson can’t hide the truth any longer! She fell into bed with her ex-Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) once again and everyone is about to find out about it! Daytime Confidential had the chance to speak with Chelsea’s portrayer Melissa Claire Egan about the character’s confession. In true soap opera fashion, everything goes down on a Friday! Egan shares, “I'm excited to see those scenes! They were so sad. They were really intense. Jason (Thompson, Billy Abbott) was so good. Jason can really hit on such an emotional thing. He doesn't get really angry. He's just hurt and shocked, which makes her feel even worse. He’s broken by it.” It’s got to be a tough blow for the man who literally saved Chelsea’s life two years ago. Clearly, things are going to be a journey for the couple.

Where does this leave Chelsea immediately after it’s all said and done? “I think she's relieved, because obviously as you’ve seen, she has not been good at keeping the secret! Someone made a comment saying 'Yeah, but like, she used to be a con artist and lying should be nothing for her.' The truth is just think about how much has changed since she was a con artist when she entered the canvas. She’s had a child. She’s had two, right? She's had a mental break and attempted suicide. She is a different, changed person. So, lying and scheming like this doesn't come naturally to her anymore.”

The character has evolved over the years. However, one thing that seems to be a constant is Adam Newman. For whatever reason, Ms. Lawson can’t get him out of her system. Are they the loves of each other's lives? Egan reveals, “Obviously, Chelsea and Adam have such a bond, and it goes so deep. I've been on the show for thirteen years, and I've been with the Adam character pretty much since the beginning. For thirteen years, this has been a really profound love story that has been a huge roller coaster. So, I do love that aspect. I think that they're always connected.”

The connection between the two characters definitely reignited that steamy night in Boston. Was the actress surprised when they duo crossed the line again? “No! I wasn't, because I actually pitched it! Between all four of us, we call it our love square, instead of a love triangle, it's our love square of me and Mark and Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) and Jason. I love working with all of them, and they are all so talented. I'd been saying to Jason in the months prior, like, it's so great that we're happy but we have to screw up. You don't want to stay happy in Genoa City. You have to spice it up. So, I voice messaged our Head Writer, Josh Griffith, who's a genius, and he doesn't need my help. I was like, 'Hey, I feel like maybe Chelsea and Adam get drunk, and she's upset. Then, all of a sudden they start kissing, and one thing leads to another, and they're just in the throes of their despair!' He just writes back, 'That's already happening!' So, I was excited, because I love these couples together, but it is so sad and destructive!”

Chelsea and Adam really set off a wave of hurt and pain upon their loved ones in the coming weeks! Chelsea is determined to make things right with Billy. “Well, she's not giving up. She gives Billy time, but it's not looking great. She’s trying to prove her love and win him back. We shot a lot of great stuff that I think is just going to keep people intrigued. Like, is he going to forgive her? Will Sally forgive Adam? How's Sally gonna feel about Chelsea? They have started to become friends, and Sally's done a lot for Connor (Judah Mackey). There's a lot of dynamics and a lot of layers to this. So, I think there will be a treat to see where everybody stands coming up.” Sally versus Chelsea has so much potential, because the ladies are similar. They are not ones to back down when they have been wronged. Egan chimes in, “I know! They're both not wall flowers, and don't like being betrayed. So, we've shot a lot of really good stuff. It's been a ton of fun, and the three of them are amazing. It's been a blast to have our little love square!”
