Days of Our Lives Recap: Johnny Tells EJ He Cheated on Chanel

On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:
Horton Square: JJ confronts EJ for putting his hands on Gabi. She wonders what JJ is doing back in town and EJ tells him to back off. JJ says EJ will have to deal with him if he doesn’t let Gabi go. EJ releases her wrist (which he was only holding because Gabi tried to slap him) and JJ calls him a “pompous ass” who mistreats women. EJ counters Abigail was a willing participant in their affair just as Gabi was. EJ tries his luck and calls both women “eager participants.” JJ basically tells EJ to keep Abigail’s name out of his damn mouth. EJ backs down and apologizes for both Abigail’s untimely demise and the subsequent fake Abigail debacle.
JJ tells Gabi he’s in town to make sure Cat pays for pretending to be his sister. EJ picks up the snarkiness again saying the charges against her have been dropped. Gabi chastises EJ who says it’s already a done deal. JJ doesn’t get it and EJ protects Chad by snarkily telling him to file a complaint with City Hall. With that, JJ knocks EJ on his ass. EJ pops up and goes after JJ as Gabi gets between them. EJ says he could have JJ arrested. Gabi says it’s hard to abuse one’s power when there’s an eyewitness (I’m so confused. Gabi slapped EJ and JJ shoved and punched EJ. Am I missing something?). EJ spits blood and makes his exit.
Hernandez Place: Jada is talking to Talia about Rafe’s proposal. She hangs up and Rafe walks in. She gives him back his commissioner badge, officially turning over the job back to him. Rafe kids with her asking if she’ll be able to give up the power. Jada admits she enjoyed the job but is fine with relinquishing the commissioner’s power. With that, they kiss.
Brady Pub: Paulina chats with Roman saying Jada and Rafe are joining her. She’s treating herself because she just got a clean bill of health. Just then, Stephanie arrives, and Paulina calls her Chanel. Roman is very confused but Paulina says it’s a joke. She can’t imagine who would ever confuse the two and then says, oh yeah, Johnny! Roman understands accusing Chanel of cheating wasn’t his finest moment. Paulina loves Johnny but wonders why he’s acting like a jackass fool, just like his daddy.
Stephanie admits she bears some responsibility for Johnny’s foolishness. He would never have assumed anything about Chanel had she and Alex not acted like horned up teenagers on the Body & Soul set. Paulina doesn’t hold her or Alex responsible at all. That being said, she wants to dish a bit about her rekindled relationship with the abtastic Alex. With that, Roman takes the opportunity to take his leave.
Stephanie takes a seat and admits she and Alex started things back up again but ended quickly. Paulina heard about Kate and Abe putting the kibosh on onset relationships. She understands as she’s dealt with the same situation on occasion.
Rafe and Jada arrive, and Paulina notices the rock on her employee’s finger. Jada confirms the two are engaged and they all engage in hugs. Roman gives them lunch on the house and they all order. Paulina wants to get down to business and Rafe updates his boss on his health. Rafe says he’s ready to get back to work. Paulina says she wants Rafe to go back to being a detective and Jada to continue on as the commissioner.
Jada appreciates Paulina’s confidence in her but politely declines. She doesn’t want to take Rafe’s job. Paulina says the job belongs to whomever she deems best in that moment. For now, she believes Jada is the best person for the job. Paulina tells Rafe her decision isn’t personal and hopes he understands. Just then, she gets a text, grabs a plate, and makes her exit.
University Hospital – Lobby: Alex and Chanel are chatting about Joy and how it’s so easy to mix up fact and fiction as they’re both living their lives and shooting Body & Soul. They move on to discussing the debacle with Johnny. Alex says he understands the fragile, male ego and is glad she gave him another chance. He mentions how his ego was responsible for screwing up his first go around with Stephanie.
Chanel reviews Alex’ history with Stephanie and asks if he took her advice about checking in with her to see how she was feeling (I like these two as friends). Alex spills tea and Chanel says it’s clear they both have real feelings for the other. Alex agrees a bit too much which makes Chanel get the giggles. She thinks they should get Leo to write all this romantic gold into the script. Just then, Stephanie arrives, and Chanel decides it’s time to go run lines.
Stephanie tells Alex she arranged a photo shoot with a magazine and they want to do it right this very minute. Alex agrees to head back to the B&S headquarters to take some candid photos. He suggests Joy or some other women to shoot with him but Stephanie says it’s boys only.

University Hospital – Exam Room Set: Joy arrives to chat with Johnny, and she asks what’s wrong. Johnny says he’s upset about what happened between them. He says he wants to tell but Joy thinks that’s a stupid move. Johnny says he needs to come clean and clear his conscience. Joy tries to explain how her life could be destroyed by his conscience clearing. She’s afraid their unfortunate canoodling will get her ass fired. Just then, Chanel walks in and asks what’s up.
Joy says she’s been trying to convince Johnny to change an upcoming scene. She’s pled her case and now it’s time to let her director ponder. Johnny says he sees Joy’s point and will defer to her opinion for the time being (Oh Johnny, this is not going to end well). With that, Chanel hugs her husband and says she’s ready to make her exit.
Chanel and Joy arrive back to run lines. They immediately avoid the task at hand and discuss their dinner at the pub the night before. Chanel says Nancy was a lot of fun and they enjoyed their evening. Chanel notes they told Nancy they would watch over her and she invites Joy to dinner at the mansion so they can get to know each other even better.
DiMera Mansion – Living Room: EJ has ice on his lip when Johnny arrives home and asks if he’s ok. EJ doesn’t explain but mentions his “disasterous” birthday party. Johnny explains how his jealousy got the best of him. EJ says DiMera men are passionate and tend to overreact. Johnny says there’s more to the situation and admits he did something really stupid.
Horton Square: JJ and Gabi take a seat and he asks if the fight with EJ was about him sending her to prison. Gabi says he was confronting him about the role he played in destroying her marriage (again, really?). She says her divorce papers are being processed as they speak (or are they?). Gabi thanks him for intervening earlier and hopes everything is forgiven between the two of them. JJ mentions how Gabi used the remote control to mess with Julie’s heart (that really was so silly and so good). She knows her actions are impossible to forgive. JJ says the memory is still painful for him. Gabi says she’s still horrified by her own actions, but she’s a different woman now. She wonders if he’s willing to give her a chance to prove herself. JJ says he is as he believes she’s willing to be a different person. Gabi thanks him again for coming to her rescue (did she need to be rescued?). JJ reminds her that she once came to his rescue, and they recount when she stopped him from dying by suicide.
Body & Soul HQ: Stephanie talks on the phone and tells her contact the photo shoot is ready to go. Just then, a shirtless Alex walks in with arrows on his back (noting his character’s name) and says he’s. Stephanie says he looks hot as a sexy Peter Pan. Alex says he’s Robin Hood as he makes the ladies quiver. That being said, he just doesn’t want to look stupid. Stephanie does her best to “loosen his strap” which clearly gets the both of them a bit hot.

Stephanie and Alex are about to give into temptation when she gets a text saying the photographer has arrived.
JJ tells Gabi he needs to get home to discuss the Cat issue with Chad. With that, they say goodbye and he exits.
Jada tells Rafe she wasn’t in on Paulina’s decision. Rafe understands and also knows what the mayor says goes. She doesn’t know what to say and Rafe pulls out the commissioner’s badge, hands it back and offers her congratulations.
Joy thanks Chanel for her kindness but is concerned Johnny will be annoyed with dealing with her too much. Chanel assures her she’s in charge with Johnny, especially now. He will be all good with Joy coming over for dinner. With that, Joy reluctantly agrees to come over.
EJ asks what “John Roman” what he did that was so bad. Johnny makes his father promise not to tell anyone. Once EJ agrees, he says he cheated on Chanel (but we still don’t know what “cheat” means).
