General Hospital's Jackie Zeman Talks Bobbie Spencer in a Crowded Port Charles
Every soap opera works to strike a balance between vets and newbies, and General Hospital is no exception. Despite starring on the show for more than 40 years, Jackie Zeman (Bobbie) was off-canvas most of last year. So when Spencer clan events required her on-screen appearance in 2019, she was unsure how Bobbie would feel after so long "away."
Zeman told ABC's Soaps in Depth of her character's relationship with her grandson, Wiley (who, of course, is actually her biological great-grandson, Jonah Corinthos!):
"When we shot the scene with the diabetes [diagnosis], it was the first time I ever held the baby [actor]. I had never even met him! At the baby-naming ceremony last fall, I didn’t touch the kid. I also hadn’t spoken with Josslyn in a year-and-a-half!”
Zeman added:

“You make excuses in your head for why your character didn’t show up to things. And I wondered if they were setting Bobbie up to be a cold stranger.”
But, of course, once she put her mind to it, she figured Bobbie must be loving the family time.
